Ahmed Saif Hashid: Yemen Times' Person of the Year
The Yemen Times has selected Ahmed Saif Hashid as its Person of the Year. Mr. Hasid is a prominent human rights activist as well as a Member of Parliament, a newspaper editor and chair of a rights organization.
Jawa readers will recall our exclusive interview with Mr. Hashid in which he discussed a range of issues. After the interview, the Yemeni Parliament began steps to withdraw Mr. Hashid's parliamentary immunity. Mr. Hashid also forwarded to us witness testimony from the dungeons of Yemeni prisons, where in children, women and men described torture, depravation and abuses.
The Jawa Report would like to congratulate Mr. Hashid on this honor and note that it is well deserved.
